Election Security

The Problem:

There has been increased concern in recent elections about voter fraud. While verifiable cases of voter fraud are quite rare (Data from the conservative Heritage Foundation shows 7 cases of voter fraud convictions in Minnesota since 2020), it is important that our voting systems and processes continue to remain secure and transparent to reinforce public faith in our election results.

Solutions:

  • The Secretary of State's office is responsible for conducting secure and transparent elections. I will support additional funding and resources if requested by the Secretary of State relating to election security measures, equipment upgrades, or other needs.
  • Cases of voter fraud should be aggressively prosecuted. I support existing Minnesota law that charges ineligible voters with a felony.
  • I support the current voter registration process which requires applicants to provide their Minnesota Driver's License, State ID, or Social Security Number when registering to vote.
  • I support the current post-election randomized precinct audits, where electronic counts are verified by hand counts.

I encourage voters to review the current election security and transparency measures in place in Minnesota, which can be found on the Secretary of State's website: https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/how-elections-work/election-security-measures/
